It takes time...

Easy does it, patience is a virtue and so on, if we go with quoting some well known phrases.

The spark of mine to establish stables to be part of Equus-Sims community ignited nearly two months ago and it hasn't quite burst into flames yet... This project is coming along, but not exactly in lightning speed since I'm somewhat a perfectionist and everything needs to be as ready as possible before it can be public. Probably the nature of first being enthusiastic nearly 24/7 and then settling into "easy does it / no need to rush" mentality about the matter (while something new is 24/7 ;D) plays part too. So yeah, no publishing parties in the near future, something might be ready before 2012 turns to 2013... perhaps, I give no promises!

But things do happen, even if they happen in a bit slow pace. I mean, I had the concept of all this almost completely worked out already back in July.

Thoroughbreds, racing ... Greenfield could work, Greenfield Stud it is ... don't like to have (too) different things under the same stable ... don't want huge amount of different stables either though ... English is kinda what everyone does, having some show jumpers wouldn't be bad ... two stables, that wouldn't be so bad ... but gotta have western ... three, nope that's maybe a bit too much ... being (harness) racing person before other things that's a sure thing, Greenfield is a go ... that could be combined with a couple show jumpers couldn't it, racehorses is the livelihood, but someone has show jumpers as more of their thing ... yeah, that's good - husband is racehorse trainer/farm runner and wife is more into doing English than racing, has two-three horses for her "hobby" ... those could be thoroughbreds too, but maybe some warmblood is better ... oh, ISH is perfect, great sport horse with "real thoroughbred" bloodlines, the thoroughbreds can also be used for the English breeding, maybe even getting started that way, wife owns Irish draught mare that's been covered with husband's tb stud and she's bred+trained her own show jumper ... that would be racing and show jumping covered ... want western horses too, but they don't really mix into Greedfield ... that would be another stable then, well "real western ranch" ... quarters, paints, appaloosas - QHs can be mixed into the other two with no problems and we still have quarter/paint/appaloosa as result ... and obviously QH is the one true western horse ... HWH could be nice prefix for horses bred, goes well with all the name ideas ... stands for what, some weird ranch name ... nah, can't come up with anything, family name derived, that might work ... ranch run by Michael "Mike" Hayes ... Hayes Western Horses ... yeah, that might work, Hayes has familiar ring to it though ... there's Hayes family in "normal Sims save nhood" and named some trained in SO4 Hayes ... oh well, that doesn't really matter, Hayes Western Horses it is ... smallish/medium family ranch, gone from father to son for at least three generations, Mike is that 3rd generation, his dad still alive and not that old either but stepped aside from day to day operations, Mike's got a wife, maybe a younger brother too...

In between weebly account is created, Greenfield Stud gets its site structure, Hayes Western Horses gets site started shortly after with site creation not much more.

Should probably figure out names for few foundation horses ... after all the plan is mostly go with in game stories ... tb stallion, in stud (after some in game achievements), dark bay ... oh, the dark bay from MCC might work for this, so Western War ... tb mare, lets go with bay and the name, perhaps "simple name" from archives might suit ... that could suit the vision, Thesalee ... maybe couple more mares, oh well those can be done after some building, IDH mare should be in this though ... grey just for the sake that it's so common, most look nice too ... grey IDH mare it is, name perhaps something less creative, positive or such ... Lucky Clover, yeah that's lame, but that's fine for this one anyway ... ok these work and couple more horses later when the place is more than vision ... now the couple running things need identities too ... lets see what kind of names there is in archives ... K Stokes, Stokes might work quite well, and the K cold be what ... can't really think of anything else than Kevin, so Kevin Stokes, racehorse trainer / stud owner ... and wife, well maybe just wife to be would be nice story wise, so first and last name ... Ann Williams, that's good enough ... her parents might have racehorse or two as "retirement hobby" or something and that's how she met Kevin ... yeah, something might come out of that... world for this needs to be lush green and such, Riverview might be good to start with...

Mentioned three horses and owner get created and building plans for the stud start in Riverview. House half done, racetrack done, couple townie families done... and Greenfield project halts, cause Riverview just isn't quite the place for it. There's a vision of what everything should be like, so next step is going at it in CAW. Goes fine at first, but then planning the roads and town layout starts to eat the enthusiasm - visions are always so much better than trying to full fill them... and CAW-project goes into hibernation for time being. If no decent substitute for visions comes my way, I'll try to find enthusiasm to go on with it again.

The western ranch has been settled to Mesa Flats, since deciding to do one. Hayes family created, three quarters created, two paints created, two appaloosas created, family moved in and building well under way, horses moved in... some testing that over six pets work... building continues. Then the so far somewhat final version of horse size slider is released and catches my attention in the Equus-Sims forum.

This makes things so much cooler, actual difference between horses... hang on, Paragon Farm is run by Nathan Hayes, he's got father Michael Hayes... ok, that's one of the things why Hayes sounded so familiar... so HWH doesn't work, can't go with family name already well known in the community ... better go with the prefix again, some good fit for WH ... DWH, that's actually maybe even better than HWH ... so what does the D stand for ... lets see what the archives hold ... Dunn might work, Dunn Western Horses, Michael Dunn ... yeah, that works ...

So Hayes became Dunn in game and for the site as well. Site also got its structure and quite a lot of content, but no where near enough to publish. Easy does it, it'll get there at some point.

Also in between all this when it came clear that, if I don't want to be a character in Equus-Sims, I'll have to be establishment, since just being me doesn't work, if I'm to be part of the competition side of Equus, led to figuring out what to do with everything. Just as not being fan of being a character, didn't really warm up to having multiple accounts for establishments either - way too much hassle and things to forget. So it was a mission to make one account work, make two different stables with their own stories and such plausible for one account. I didn't want direct contact between the two, they're most certainly not neighbors or friends or anything like that - some others have connected several stables to each other (= same account) in similar manners. Eventually thinking this through led to idea of some sort of association that would exist in both stables stories, perhaps organize some in game events and such and some characters being involved in organizing these (western/rodeo event official/judge, show jumpers sponsored by, sponsor for major races). Probably doable, after all the organization angle has been done by others, so association connecting all my establishments it was.

Took till last week until the association got decent enough simple name for itself - Dequine. Since it might take a bit more than moment to finish barely started Greenfield and still quite a few moments to finish half done Dunn Western Horses, it'll take quite awhile before Dequine is ready for establishment application.
